I really like seeing this stuff from the past crop up. It was funny to see Matt’s email about this last night, because last night I was at Casey’s apartment with Dan listening to the record Dan has been slowly working on for the past few years. The recordings sound really great, and I’ll be playing guitar on a handful of the tracks.

It was a bit surreal to be listening to the tracks – some of them are about 4 years old. Four years that have seen a lot of change within and around me. But the recordings haven’t changed. It feels like I have the chance to go back in time and record parts for my 23 year-old self. I’m really excited to show my younger self what I’ve been up to, and my future older self what I was up to.

I ended up staying in bed for the majority of the time between then and Saturday morning. It was supposed to be my last week of work, but I missed it all. But I was miraculously doing better Saturday. But I went to Old Hat practice and performed with Cheese on Bread. The show went so well, and it made me so happy, that I just started feeling so much better afterwards. One of the best shows we’ve had in a while, I think.

And then Sunday evening I was back at Sidewalk for a solo show. I was the closing act of the festival. I felt like I was not doing a very good job, but Bernard gave me a tape of the show, and it’s pretty good despite the fact that I didn’t practice since I was sick all week. It was fun.

Monday was my last day at work. Very anti climactic. I was so excited to have a last day at work, and then it came three days later, after not having been there for over a week. Oh well. I finished some tasks up for them and it was nice to leave on good terms.

Today and yesterday, Matt Keesan and I have been working together on our web application which we’ve been developing for a music studio. It’s mostly together, and I’m proud of it. It is fun to work on a computer project alongside a friend. Today we took over Dan and Betsy’s apartment as an office. Yesterday we spent a good day in more southern Brooklyn, stopping by various Cafe’s for internet.

We did a fair amount of walking yesterday, it reminded me a bit of our day in Toledo, Ohio over the summer. Matt and I were up earlyish for some reason, and we walked through town to get to the public library. The early morning walk with Matt is a good thing. In Toledo we got to the library and checked email and whatnot. I sat next to a guy who was "having" cybersex in yahoo messenger. He was rubbing his crotch. I was only slightly uncomfortable with that.

That is what I have been doing the past week. A little over a month from now I’m going to fly to Berlin to play shows in Germany with Huggabroomstik. I’m very excited. I bought my tickets.

I have returned from tour with Cheese On Bread, which held in store anything and everything one could possibly imagine. There is a small store of pictures which show off mostly our days off, they were taken by Matt.

Once getting back to New York, I felt pretty good to be home. The next day, I got pretty depressed though. I’ve never spent so much time with one set of people, and I immediately began to miss them all. It was quite depressing. One day Dan and I ran into each other, and we pretended to run important errands (went to KMart and bought razor blades). Afterwards, we sat on a park bench and wondered how we would ever go back to our normal lives. We wrote a comic book about the first week of tour. I guess that was a good way to handle it.

Since then, I’ve recovered, but I still miss everyone terribly. I think I’ll be going to Philadelphia next week to visit the Philly Cheese On Bread crew, and Friday I’m going to stop by Emandee studios, where the Bloodsugars are recording.

In less than two weeks, I’m going to be back at work, being bored and looking for things to read onlin. Yikes!

Two Saturdays ago, we performed at Galapagos, which went very well. We’ll probably be playing there more in the future, which is great since it was the best situation we’ve ever played in. The band seems to be more charged now – probably since we’re actually active now.

We had rehearsal this past weekend, which was intertwined with numerous other activities. Dan and I arrive in Philadelphia Friday evening, and met with Gregg to check out various First Friday galleries. The things I enjoyed the most were the expensive clocks made out of various tin cans and pieces of trash… er… "found objects". Afterwards, we stopped into Ortlieb’s Jazzhaus which was a lot of fun. Four years ago, one of the reasons I wanted to come to New York was to be near various jazz clubs. This is the first one I’ve been to. Funny how plans change.

Next day was filled with rehearsal, followed by a delicious vegetarian haggis, served up by Matt’s roommate, Tami.

The next day, more rehearsal, and preparations for the superbowl, featuring the Philadelphia Eagles. I prepared by escaping Philly. Good thing too – the Eagles lost. And even though I haven’t heard about any riots or anything, I haven’t heard from anyone in Philadelphia since then, so I’m not sure what’s really going on.
